The visual arts are a powerful means to support children’s expressive language skills as well as develop early writing and literacy-related skills. Through a careful exploration of a variety of visual arts media appropriate for young learners, this session will introduce lesson ideas related to drawing, sculpture, 3D artworks, and digital art experiences. Participants will be encouraged to explore the pedagogical approaches that support the natural connections between the visual arts and early literacy.
