When young children observe others in their environment engaging in reading, they’re motivated to read and want to learn how to read by themselves. As educators, it’s important for us to provide our children with meaningful, hands-on learning in order to support their early literacy development. Mastering early literacy skills, such as print awareness or concepts of print, is necessary. It teaches children how print works as well as book handling skills. This webinar will identify and discuss these essential early literacy skills, along with effective teaching strategies to support children’s continued literacy success and readiness for kindergarten.
Outcomes: As a result of this webinar, participants will be able to:
• implement effective early literacy teaching strategies into daily instruction.
• develop a print-rich, engaging environment and activities to support the development of early literacy skills.
