DESCRIPTION:These courses are designed to walk participants through key instructional strategies that will help increase language and vocabulary development in young children. 0.2 CEUs will be awarded upon successful completion of each two-hour module. \nAll classes will be held 6:30-8:30 pm on Thursdays listed below at the Early Learning Coalition of Lake County\, 1300 Citizens Blvd\, Suite 206\, Leesburg\, FL 34748. \n\nScaffolding (LVP1) July 18th – #8795\n\nParticipants will learn the Language Scaffolding Strategy\, developed to help preschool teachers expose young children to a wide variety of vocabulary words\, and to encourage the use of every opportunity during the school day to build language skills. \n\nBook Embedded Vocabulary Instruction (LVP2) July 25th – #8796\n\nParticipants will learn Book Embedded Vocabulary Instruction as a strategy that facilitates vocabulary teaching and                learning; allows children to learn new vocabulary words within engaging activities; increases oral vocabulary; and provides children with opportunities to hear advanced vocabulary. \n\nDialogic Reading (LVP3) August 8th – #8797\n\nParticipants will learn Dialogic Reading as a strategy used with books to promote vocabulary and oral language skills. In Dialogic Reading\, the book becomes a shared visual and verbal context in which you and your children can learn new words. \n\nThink\, Show\, Tell\, Talk (LVP4) August 22nd – # 8798\n\nParticipants will learn Think\, Show\, Tell\, Talk as a useful strategy for promoting language and vocabulary development by using a specific routine to label objects or actions during daily classroom routines. \nSpace is limited to 20. DESCRIPTION:Description: This training is based on the newly revised Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards and provides an overview of the standards used in preschool classrooms serving children ages three years old to Kindergarten. This training meets the lead VPK instructor training requirements and incorporates the standards approved for use in VPK programs. Examples of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies for preschool age children are provided throughout the training along with information about purposeful planning\, reflective practice and qualities of an effective educator.
