SUMMARY:Bright Beginnings: DAP Programing for Infant Classrooms & FCHs
DESCRIPTION:  \nDESCRIPTION: \nYoung children are learners from the start! Early experiences help children connect with others and form strong relationships (teacher sensitivity & positive climate). We will explore ways to become more sensitive to infants in our care. This workshop will also learn how to put into practice facilitated (activities for exploration) for the youngest children in your program.  Teachers will explore how to facilitate children’s learning and development with every day learning materials. Infant caregivers are involved with one of the most amazing and rapidly developing times of a child’s life! \n  \nOBJECTIVES/LEARNING OUTCOMES: \n\nDiscover simple ways to build a more positive climate\nUnderstand and identify facilitated activities for exploration from every day play materials\nLearn how to provide scaffolding learning experiences & provide clarification on concepts\nEstablish a learning environment that provides learning experiences that meet the individual capabilities and interests of each child.\n\n  \nBENEFIT TO ATTENDEES: Attendees will “learn by playing” as they participate in the games and activities with common play materials found in most infant classrooms. In this workshop teachers will explore activities that maximize the quality of their setting while providing a warm climate and opportunities to learn. Participants will come away with many hands-on strategies that they can implement immediately into their program. \n  \nSUMMARY: Infants experiences should include playful interactions in the environment that help them make sense of their world. They learn from their own experiences\, trial and error\, repetition\, and imitation. Teachers can facilitate learning and encourage children’s learning by ensuring that the environment is emotionally appropriate; invites play\, active exploration and movement by children; and supports a broad array of experiences.  A reliable framework of routines\, together with a stimulating choice of activities and materials\, facilitates children’s learning.  Young children are motivated to learn when teachers create a positive climate and set up the environment with materials that integrate concepts across activities. This workshop will address infant curriculum based on these basic principles of development and learning for the very young child. It will focus on play as the basis for curriculum at this age level. \nClick here to Register \n

SUMMARY:PK CLASS: Diving Deeper into Instructional Support
DESCRIPTION:Powerful interactions\, expanded feedback\, and using juicy words do not just happen. As teachers\, we have to become facilitators who encourage children to expand their learning. Teachers who intentionally plan concepts that are interesting and allow children to experiment and explore their environments not only deepen their learning but also expand their world. We will explore strategies teachers can use daily to assist with enriching their environments to scaffold learning. We will also spend time planning hands-on activities that can be used immediately with children.\nOutcomes: As a result of this workshop\, participants will be able to: \n• examine the dimensions of Instructional Support and discuss strategies that will aid in improving the quality of language used in the classroom.\n• explore ways to encourage children to guide their learning and exploring.\n• plan hands-on activities that are rich in concept development\, language modeling\, and feedback loops. \nIf you still need a reason to attend all participants will receive items to utilize  in their classrooms! \nClick here to Register

SUMMARY:We Have Our CLASS Results\, Now What?
DESCRIPTION:From over a decade of research on CLASS\, we have found that children in classrooms with higher CLASS ratings experience greater gains in academic achievement and social skill development during the school year (Howes et al\,. 2008; Mashburn et al\,. 2008). As educators\, it is our goal to provide a high quality learning environment\, interactions\, and learning opportunities for each child in order to set them up for success. It is not enough to just complete the CLASS observations. We must analyze and utilize the data to improve the quality of each classroom. In this interactive session\, we will discuss how to utilize CLASS data to inform program improvement and discuss how to give meaningful feedback to teachers post-observation. We will discuss the role of the director as the academic leader and how to support teachers in setting and meeting their goals. \nOutcomes: As a result of this workshop\, participants will be able to: \n• use CLASS data to inform continuous program improvement and allocation of resources.\n• utilize CLASS results to set goals for quality including program-wide and for individual classrooms.\n• support program improvement and teacher growth by sharing meaningful feedback and data with staff. \nIf you still need a reason to attend all participants will receive items to utilize in their classrooms! \nClick here to Register
